The ECI 2017 Annual Conference will provide a platform for industry leaders to show how, by addressing the key challenges affecting performance of capital projects, it is possible to build the right framework from which they can be delivered successfully.

Kingsfield’s Director David Tyerman, together with James Bowles of Freeform, are addressing this topic in their talk ‘Project Controls is Broken; A New Model for the Management of Project Risk’. The presentation seeks to explore the range of challenges that are concerned with time, costs and resource constraints, whilst offering use of 4D planning as a proactive management tool that is able to facilitate open and collaborative engagement with the dynamics of schedule risk.

They will suggest that current methods and approaches to the establishment, administration and use of the project schedule as an effective control tool are misaligned to the dynamics of a complex project environment and that the project schedule is therefore typically redundant as an accurate indicator of project risk. As an alternative, 4D planning offers a means to visualise actual project performance and to engage the project team in a collaborative and aligned manner.

This presentation is based on a demonstration of an example 4D model, within the context of a more effective, aligned and focused planning and project controls practices.

Come along and meet David, together with other members of the Kingsfield team, on 22 June in Birmingham, UK.
